Introducing....The First

subsidy Record Company

What is a subsidy record company?  We provide recording contracts to most artists that have been unable to acquire a recording contract elsewhere.  Whereas, a large majority of artists are turned away by both Independent and Major record

companies,  a large number of artists that send us demo tapes, are accepted.  Though, we too have to decline potential artists just like everybody else,  (we have to make sure we can market the music you submit), your chances of gaining a recording

contract with us is much greater than elsewhere.  This is because the Artist pays a one time fee (subsidy fee), to BSR to help subsidize or defray the costs of the initial     production.  This accomplishes two important factors.  One being, we only deal with Artists that are serious about their music, and secondly, it helps the record company put additional funding into the Artists project.  It works out well for both parties and becomes a true partnership between the Artist and the record company.

How is the subsidy fee determined?  First off, Brass Star Records has three recording contract options.  The *first option is not a subsidy plan.  This is a standard recording contract.  (Yes, we do those too, but like everybody else, they’re hard to come by.)  Options #2 and #3 are our only current subsidy plans.  The amount of the subsidy fee is directly related to the funding that is required to produce and promote (on a

minimal level), the finished product.  We take into consideration, time, materials, office

expenses and the contacts that we have to offer.  The contacts include record distributer/s we have acquired and radio station addresses we have spent years to accumulate.  These contacts are a HUGE commodity and worth a lot more than the subsidy fee we require.  It should also be noted that the subsidy fee is a ONE TIME fee only and all additional funding should the production excel shall be paid by BSR.  The one time subsidy fee should be considered a “jump start” for your successful project.

What is the subsidy fee for options #2 and #3?  * Option #2 requires the recording of your production to be produced by BSR.  This means studio time (our

studio charges $55+ an hour) as well as tape (a minimum of 3 - 2” reels @ approx. $140 per reel.).  In some cases, airfare and accomodations have to be accounted for.

However, we want new talented artists to have a chance to be recorded and promoted, so we have kept the subsidy fee down to a minimum.  The fee is $9480.  It may be paid with a down payment of $4500, with 12 payments of $415 per month.

* Option #3 is the best way to go if you already have recorded and mastered your

project.  The only requirement is, we must approve your master.  BSR will only put

quality productions on it’s label!  You provide the master tape and artwork, and we will take it from there.  The subsidy fee set for this option is: $4900.  It may be paid with a down payment of $2500 and 12 payments of $200 per month.  There is no interest on the subsidy fees and projects are finished and promotion begun month’s before the last

payment is paid.
